Biblical Citizenship Week 8
By Nancy Murray
“A politician is only thinking about the next election. A Patriot is concerned about the next generation!” This statement summarizes week 8, if we don’t select good people to represent us in government, then our country and people will suffer.
The people select their representatives that implement Article 1 (Congress) and Article 2 (the President) through elections. It is our duty to find good principled candidates and help them to get elected.
I can’t help but take this moment to preach about election integrity. After the 2020 election and the overwhelming evidence of election fraud that “selected” Joe Biden as our president, it is a bit discouraging to endorse our election process. However, we saw that when we overwhelm the election with our votes “making it too big to rig” we were able to elect President Trump. Even though there is evidence that the down ballots were compromised in many states, he does have a small majority in both the House and Senate. I have hope that with the help of Congress, President Trump will fix our federal elections and prevent the use of corrupt election equipment in the future.
Now that I got that off my mind, I will continue with the lesson…
September 17th is Constitution Day across our country. By Federal law every school is required to focus on the Constitution and other founding documents, but only about 10% of the public schools do so. It is important that we volunteer our time to visit the schools and discuss the founding of our country. The Patriot Academy already has the curriculum available for volunteers to present the required material.
To influence Article 3, we need to select Senators that uphold the Constitution. Senators approve the justices at each level of the federal judiciary.
To influence Article 4, we need to understand State’s rights and select constitutionalists to represent us at the state level.
How to amend the constitution. The process is designed to be slow and difficult and requires 2/3’s of both House and Senate to adopt proposed amendments then must be ratified by a minimum of 38 states (3/4).
Another method to amend the constitution is the Convention of States. This method is often cited for imposing term limits on House and Senate members, since it is unlikely they will impose these restrictions on themselves. The Convention of States requires 2/3s of the states to apply to Congress calling for the convention for proposing amendments. Any amendments proposed at the convention must be ratified by ¾ of the states before the Amendment would become part of the Constitution.
The Convention of States is a way for the states to push back against the Federal government, but some people raise caution with this method. Once a convention is established, there are no restrictions on what they can accomplish. The last Convention of States resulted in the Constitution to our benefit, but do we really want to risk a new Constitution? Joanna Martin, J.D. (Publius Huldah) warns of what’s really behind the push for an Article V convention: to move us into the New World Order or impose a Communist dictatorship. You can view her warning in this video about the Convention of States to address amending the Constitution.
In summary, the eight-week course on Biblical Citizenship was a great experience. Ken Davis ran a tight ship with a weekly discussion on current topics followed by the pre-recorded videos produced by The Patriot Academy. Lynda Keck and I highly recommend this course to all RSF members, many of which have taken the course more than once. A longer version of this course called Constitution Alive, will be offered late summer.
