Tim Bennett Returns
By Nancy Murray
Tim returned to the RSF to continue with his discussion from last week. Technical difficulties prevented him from starting with his slide presentation.
This week he discussed the efforts to work with pastors in Colorado to help them with the message for their congregations. Apparently, the crazy laws passed by the Colorado democrats in the House and Senate and signed by Governor Polis, was a bridge too far. Especially with the Transgender Protection Bill that violates parental rights.
Tim also discussed several PowerPoint slides to include one that showed Colorado is the 5th most regulated state (see slide). This is a shift from the private sector to government control. The result, many local small businesses are relocating out of Colorado. Lynda Keck also pointed out that the US Sentence Commission shows that the US median sentence for rape is 14-19 years, but in Colorado it is 2-4 years. In addition to this, bad guys are getting subsidies.

On the heels of HB25-1312, Protecting Transgender Rights, being approved in the House, Tim discussed a couple more controversial bills passed in the Colorado legislature.
House Bill 19-1192 established a commission entitled Concerning the Inclusion of Matters Relating to American Minorities in the Teaching of Social Contributions, and Civil Government in Education Commission, which is composed of 16 minority members appointed by the Governor. A copy of their report and recommendations can be found at commission report. We briefly discussed some their recommendations. For meeting schedule of the commission visit Commission 2024-2025.
Senate Bill 21-067 discusses the requirement for teaching civics in all grade levels to include contributions by minorities to include lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals.
Tim discussed at length the issue with rural Colorado. Large liberal cities are included in most of the rural districts resulting in more democrat representation in the rural areas. Half of the rural house seats are filled by democrats. There needs to be more focus on getting out the vote in the rural areas to outnumber the liberal city vote.
Tim was asked to return next week to finish his presentation.
