James Wiley, Republican Candidate for Secretary of Stat
The Republican Strategy Forum recently had the pleasure of welcoming guest speaker James Wiley, the Republican candidate for Secretary of State and a member of Red Flame of Liberty. Wiley took the opportunity to discuss critical issues surrounding election integrity and his vision for the future of Colorado elections.

Wiley began his presentation by praising the El Paso County Clerk for withdrawing from the Colorado County Clerks Association (CCCA). He emphasized his own extensive involvement in the 2022 election recount, where he supported former County Clerk Tina Peters in a lawsuit against Chuck Broerman, the previous Clerk, for conducting the recount improperly.
Born in Colorado and raised in Kazakhstan, Wiley witnessed the collapse of communism and returned to the United States at the age of 15. His experiences have greatly influenced his perspective on the importance of transparent elections. He expressed concern that Article 4, Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution is being violated in Colorado, as he believes elections are being executed behind a metaphorical “black curtain” with the use of voting machines. Instead, Wiley advocates for same-day voting, in-person paper ballots, voter ID, and hand counting—methods he believes will enhance transparency and trust in the electoral process.
Wiley holds an MBA in management and marketing and has a diverse professional background in finance and as a legal assistant. The COVID-19 shutdowns significantly impacted him, leading to his suspicions about the 2020 presidential election results. He recalled the moment he heard Joe Biden declared the winner on his birthday, the Saturday after the election, which raised a red flag for him.
Wiley’s legal journey began while working for attorneys Gary Fielder and Earnest Walker, where they collected over 400 complaints and filed a lawsuit against Dominion Voting Systems, the Center for Tech and Civic Life (CTCL), and the governors of Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Michigan. Unfortunately, the Denver district court dismissed their case, and their appeals to the 10th Circuit and Supreme Court were also denied. In a notable turn of events, a January 14 ruling from the Supreme Court established that candidates have standing to sue over election discrepancies.
During the 2022 primaries, Tina Peters raised $500,000 for a recount, which was requested to be a hand count, permissible under Colorado law at the time. However, current Secretary of State, Jena Griswold, ordered only a logic and accuracy test instead. When Griswold posted machine passwords online, Wiley took action and filed a lawsuit against her. Like other Libertarians, such as Ron Paul, Wiley changed his party affiliation from Libertarian to Republican in 2025.
Wiley has since been involved in several legal actions regarding election integrity, including a successful lawsuit against the Jefferson County Clerk for misrepresenting a candidate’s name on the ballot. As Secretary of State, Wiley pledges to review all election records from Tina Peters’ case and make them public, decertify all voting machines, and replace the ERIC (Electronic Registration Information Center) system to improve auditing processes.
In addition to his electoral reform goals, Wiley has collaborated with teams uncovering fraudulent practices in the Arizona governor’s office, proposing using blockchain technology to enhance public records systems and improve notary security through encryption methods.
With the goal of securing over 70% support at the State Assembly, Wiley aims to position himself as the sole candidate on the Republican primary ballot, allowing him to devote attention to the general election. He noted that his competitors, JJ McKenzie and Cory Porella, lack experience in election integrity.
To bolster community involvement, Wiley plans to utilize schools as election centers, encouraging students to participate in ballot counting as part of their civic duties. He mentioned an upcoming Secretary of State candidate forum on March 31st, organized by Channel 9, as a key opportunity for engagement.
At just 32 years old, Wiley continues to work as a legal assistant and marketing consultant. He is focused on mobilizing volunteers through a Signal chat to connect with State Delegates for support. Individuals interested in volunteering for his campaign can reach out via email at james.wiley@RedFlameofLiberty.com.
In closing, Wiley emphasized the urgent need for election reform and integrity, asserting that reforms such as returning to one day voting, voter ID, hand counting, and closing the primary elections could significantly change outcomes across many races for both parties.
